Actor Vipin Sharma, who has made his mark with many films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’, is currently seen in the web series ‘Maharani 4’ and ‘Family Man 3’. Vipin, playing the role of Prime Minister Sudhakar Srinivas Joshi in ‘Maharani 4’, has effectively presented the struggle between politics and family.

He also has a special role in ‘The Family Man 3’. Talking about getting work in both the web series, Vipin says that all this is the result of friendship and mutual trust. Recently Vipin had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, here are some important excerpts…

Question- How special was it for you to play the role of Prime Minister in the web series ‘Maharani 4’ and what kind of preparation did you do for this role?

Answer: The most special thing about this character is that I have been associated with director Subhash Kapoor for the last 15 years. Our friendship is very strong. Even though we had never worked together before, we always kept in touch. Subhash Bhai had said that when he gets a great role, he will definitely call me. And now that promise has been fulfilled. So for me this character is the result of friendship and trust.

Question: Did you have anyone in mind for the role of the Prime Minister?

Answer: Instead of thinking of someone else for the role of Prime Minister, I looked at myself. I give importance to a person because of his actions, not the character’s actions. Be it a politician, gangster, doctor or anyone else, the real importance of the character lies in his reason. Which I try to fulfill with my inner strength.

Question: How was the experience of working with Huma Qureshi while working in ‘Maharani 4’? You have known him for a long time?

answer: It was very good. Huma is a very kind and generous person, very dedicated to her work. I met him for the first time in the workshop of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. Anurag Kashyap had organized a 10-day workshop, while Huma had come from Delhi for the first time. I was very impressed after seeing his work in that film.

After this, we both also worked together in ‘Love Shav Te Chicken Khurana’, which was directed by Sameer Sharma. Although we did not have many scenes together in that film. Our relationship is very old and every time we met we used to talk that one day we will work together. Finally, when the first reading of ‘Maharani 4’ took place, both of us were very happy that now we really got a chance to work together.

Question: How were you selected for ‘The Family Man 3’, and how much does it mean to you to be a part of this series?

answer: This story is quite interesting. Actually, the story of Family Man is also similar. I met Krishna DK) at a screening. He had made a short film named ‘Shor in the City’. Later a film was also made with the same name. It was at the screening of that short film that I met Krishna, and I liked that film very much.

When I like someone’s work, I try to maintain contact with such people. Krishna also always responded to messages, whereas most people in Mumbai are so busy with work that they are unable to respond.

We remained in touch for a long time. Then one day suddenly he got a call that he had to shoot after three-four days, because the actor who was to play the role was not able to do it due to some reason. “You have to come,” he told me. I left immediately.

Initially my character was not that big, the tea scene in the first season 2 became quite famous. Then the character developed even more, and now we reach Season 3. All this is the result of friendship and mutual trust.

Question: You have worked with many big directors. Who was the easiest to work with and give you the freedom?

answer: Working with Anurag Kashyap feels very comfortable. He doesn’t insist too much on doing the scene just like that. Sudhir Mishra is also like this. He gives space to the actor. I also had a good experience with Dibakar Banerjee. But working with Subhash Kapoor was completely different. I learned a lot from him.

His way of working is very interesting. They take you beyond your limits. Inspire you to think and do in a new way. This is what I liked very much and I enjoyed this experience very much.

Question: Tell us something about your projects?

answer: Now one of my films ‘Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon 2’ will be released. Apart from this, I am starting a project of my own, the story of which I wrote during Covid. I am producing and directing this film myself. Apart from this, I am also playing a special character in the film.
