Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Poland on a two-day visit. He will leave for Ukraine on Thursday night. A special thing about his visit is that he will go to Ukraine not by plane but by train. PM Modi will go to Kiev by a special train.

The name of this special train is ‘Rail Force One’. This is not an ordinary train. It is known for its luxury facilities and world class service. PM Modi will reach Kiev after a journey of 10 hours. He will take the same time to return.

Actually, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, airports are closed on a large scale, travelling by road can be risky. This is the reason why when the world’s top leaders go to Ukraine, they prefer train travel. It is considered safer than others.

Many leaders including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian PM Georgia Meloni have traveled in Rail Force One.

Modi will travel in this train for 20 hours during his Ukraine visit.

It was made for tourists, now it is used by world leaders
Most of the leaders, journalists, diplomats who go to Ukraine travel by Rail One Force. This is a slow moving luxury train which runs at night. It travels 600 km from Poland to reach Kiev.

Ukraine has a huge rail network which is more than 24 thousand km long. It is the 12th largest rail network in the world. Different trains run in Ukraine but Rail One Force is the most special.

It was specially designed for tourists in Crimea. Then Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Since then it has been used to transport world leaders and VIPs.

This train is equipped with weapons. It has a very secure communication system. A team of high-tech security personnel is present all the time, who keep monitoring continuously. This is the reason why till now no complaint has been received regarding the security of this train.

Rail Force One was initially built for tourists.

The interior of Rail One Force is very beautiful and from inside it looks like a room of a luxurious hotel. The compartments of Rail One Force are made of wood. It has tables and sofas for sitting. For important meetings, there is a big conference table, luxurious sofa and a TV on the wall.

Rail One Force has diesel engines instead of electric engines. After the power grid was damaged in the attack, there could have been problems in traveling by electric train, so it was deliberately designed like this after the war started. The credit for the success of Rail One Force goes to the former CEO of Ukraine Railways and now minister Alexander Kamyshin. He was the one who named it Rail Force One.

Ukraine Railways is known for running on time
Kamyshin became the CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia Railway Company 6 months before the Russia-Ukraine war began. This is a government company. Ukraine Railways is known for running trains on time. When Biden arrived in Ukraine on 20 February 2023, some trains were late due to security reasons.

Kamishin had apologized for this by tweeting on social media. He said that today (on February 20) only 90% of the trains were able to run on time, for which he is sorry.

After this tweet, the American public made fun of Biden and the American Railways on social media. The rail service in America is under the ‘Amtrak’ company and it is infamous for its delays.

According to CNN, freight trains are used more in America. They are long and run slowly. This is why passenger trains get delayed. American trains were late by 9 lakh minutes (more than 1.5 years) in the whole year.

PM Modi will visit Ukraine on August 23, this is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister, before that he will stay in Poland for two days

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ukraine on 23 August. Ukrainian President Zelensky had invited PM Modi to visit Ukraine. Ukraine became a separate country in 1991. After that no Indian Prime Minister has visited there. Before Ukraine, the Prime Minister will be in Poland on 21 and 22 August.
