Nargis was given the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 for raising her voice for women’s freedom and their rights. The information about Nargis’s release has been posted by her lawyer Mustafa Neeli on social media platform X.

It has been told in the post that on the advice of doctors, the government has suspended Nargis’s sentence for 3 weeks. He has also been released. Nargis’s family members and supporters have expressed their displeasure over her release after just 3 weeks. Nargis’s family has demanded release for at least 3 months.

52 year old Nargis sentenced to 31 years imprisonment

52 year old Nargis was imprisoned in Iran’s Ivan Jail. He was sentenced to 31 years in prison and 154 lashes. In 2023, Nargis’s family had come to Oslo, the capital of Norway, to receive her Nobel Prize. After this, the Iranian government sentenced Nargis to an additional sentence of 15 months.

Nargis was born on 21 April 1972 in Zanjan city of Kurdistan, Iran. He studied Physics. After completing his studies, he worked as an engineer. She was also a columnist. Used to write for many newspapers. Nargis had been raising her voice for women’s rights since the 1990s.

In 2003 he began work at the Defenders of Human Rights Center in Tehran. According to the Nobel Prize website, Nargis Mohammadi was first jailed in 2011 for trying to help jailed activists and their families.

Nargis has also written a book named White Torture. Despite all efforts by the Iranian regime, Mohammadi’s voice could not be suppressed. While in jail, he started recording the plight of his fellow prisoners. Ultimately, he recorded the entire details of his conversations with the prisoners in the book White Torture. She was also awarded the Courage Award of Reporters Without Borders (RSF) in 2022.
