IAS officer and SDM Rinku Singh Rahi posted in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh has been transferred with immediate effect. District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey, in an order issued on Tuesday, has appointed Rahi as Judicial SDM in Orai. Meanwhile, Judicial SDM of Orai Rakesh Kumar Soni has been made the new SDM of Jalaun.
Although no reason is mentioned in the transfer order, the decision comes days after the altercation with BJP block chief Ram Raja Singh Niranjan on June 23.
What was the whole matter?
On June 23, during the inspection of a cold storage, there was a heated argument between SDM Rinku Singh Rahi and BJP block chief Ram Raja Singh Niranjan. The block chief had alleged that Rahi slapped and pushed him. CCTV footage of the incident also went viral on social media, which was claimed to have been handed over to the district administration.
Employees also made allegations
After this controversy on Monday Jalaun The employees of the revenue department of the tehsil had given a memorandum to the District Magistrate and demanded mass leave, terming Rinku Singh Rahi’s behavior as ‘rough and inhuman’. However, there has been no reaction from Rahi on these allegations.
Who is Rinku Singh Rahi?
Rinku Singh Rahi is an IAS officer of 2022 batch. He was made SDM of Jalaun only about 45 days ago. Earlier, he had passed Uttar Pradesh PCS examination in 2004 and became District Social Welfare Officer in Muzaffarnagar in 2008.
In the year 2009, he had exposed the scholarship and pension scam of more than Rs 80 crore. Due to his action against corruption, there was a fatal attack on him, in which he was seriously injured and he lost the vision of one eye.
Rinku remained in controversies
In July 2025, when he was SDM in Shahjahanpur, after a dispute with lawyers regarding cleanliness system, the video of him doing sit-ups holding his ears went viral. After this he was attached to the Revenue Council based in Lucknow.
In March 2026, he resigned saying that taking government salary without responsibility is also a form of corruption. However, later his resignation was not accepted and he was posted as SDM in Jalaun. Now once again he has been transferred.
