Assembly elections are going to be held in Punjab in the year 2027, but before the assembly elections, political activity has intensified. Former Indian hockey team captain Pargat Singh has taken charge as the new Congress President of Punjab. On Friday, former Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and submitted his formal resignation to him. Vading called it the victory of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
There were reports of internal discord in Punjab Congress for a long time. After resigning on Friday, Vading said that he had come to know that Punjab AICC in-charge Sachin Pilot Wanted him to step down from his post. However, Vading said that he had resigned on his own free will and not under anyone’s pressure.

Wadding said, ‘Sachin Pilot must have felt that it is not right for me to continue as the president. Channi Saheb has won. Wadding held the command of Punjab Congress for about four years. His resignation before the assembly elections has come at a time when Charanjit Singh Channi There was tension with the group for some months. Channi group was demanding his removal from the state president.
Vading said that he was aware of the situation and when he felt that the situation had reached its extreme, he himself decided to step down from the post. Channi’s group was also among those who wanted to remove Vading. Now, different groups are going to keep an eye on the appointment of Pargat Singh.

Before the assembly elections, former Indian hockey team captain Pargat Singh has taken command as the new Congress President of Punjab. Now, with the appointment of Pargat Singh, Congress has got a leader who has political experience, but he has no direct connection with the ongoing conflict between Vading-Channi.
Pargat, former captain of the Indian hockey team and an Olympian, has been representing Jalandhar Cantonment since 2012. After leaving Shiromani Akali Dal, he joined Congress and later held the responsibility of departments like School Education, Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs and NRI Affairs as a minister in the Channi government.
