Jewelery brand GIVA launched this advertisement on its YouTube channel on August 17.
Jewelery brand GIVA on Wednesday removed the controversial Rakshabandhan advertisement featuring actress Kriti Sanon. Kriti was wearing a bralette-style blouse, cape and draped skirt in the ad. She was also seen tying Rakhi to the dog.
Many people had objected to this attire. GIVA today said the decision to remove the ad has been taken out of respect for Indian culture and traditions. It is not our intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had supported actress Kriti.
GIVA said- It is not our intention to hurt sentiments
GIVA said, ‘As a brand, we have always believed that these happy moments should be celebrated with the entire family. This time her aim was to carry forward the love and celebration with pets. It was not our intention to hurt sentiments.
‘If our recent advertisement has inadvertently hurt the sentiments of some sections of the society, we had no such intention. As a mark of respect, we have removed the said advertisement from all media. The brand also wished people love and positivity on the occasion of the festival.
Rahul had said- women should not be guarded
Rahul Gandhi shared Kriti Sanon’s post on his Insta story and wrote – There should be no online policing of women’s clothes and lifestyle.
On this advertisement, actress-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut had said – Why would you tie Rakhi to your brother in bikini or undergarments? Where did you get so many styling options? This ad seems intentionally made to be strange.
Kriti had said- I also tie Rakhi to my sister and pet dogs.
Talking about Rakshabandhan, Kriti had said that this festival is a symbol of the relationship of security and love. He told that he and his sister Nupur Sanon tie Rakhi to each other, because both of them protect each other no less than any brother. The same love is for pet dogs also, because they are also a part of their family.
