India won double bronze in the skeet shooting event in the Asian Games on Wednesday. The Indian women’s and men’s skeet teams finished third in the team event. The special thing was that the trio of Raiza Dhillon, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal gave India the Asian Games medal for the first time in the women’s skeet team event.
After the qualification round which lasted for three days, the Indian women’s team collected a total of 331 points. China won gold with 357 points and Kazakhstan won silver with 336 points. India had to be satisfied with bronze.
Raiza and Parinaaz scored 111-111 out of 125, while Maheshwari scored 109 points. Raiza and Parinaaz now have a chance to win medals in individual events also. Both women have qualified for the individual finals of skeet. Raiza stood eighth and Parinaaz stood ninth.

Who is Maheshwari Chauhan?
Maheshwari Chauhan was born on 4 July 1996 in Siyana, Rajasthan. She is an Indian skeet shooter, who specializes in women’s skeet events. He started shooting at the age of 15, inspired by his family’s passion for the sport, especially his grandfather, whose dedication motivated him to shoot competitively. Maheshwari represented India for the first time at the international level in the ISSF Junior World Cup at the age of 17. She is currently taking training from Andrea Benelli (Italy) at her personal shooting range in Kelva, Rajsamand and Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi, and represents Rajasthan in the National Championship.
Maheshwari is one of India’s most capable women skeet shooters and has played a leading role in this discipline. In 2017, she became the first Indian woman to win an Asian Championships medal in Women’s Skeet, winning both silver and bronze medals at the Asian Shotgun Championships in Kazakhstan. Later, she won the silver medal in the ISSF Olympic Quota Qualification Event, in which she scored a national record score of 121/125 and secured the Olympic quota for India. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she created history by becoming part of India’s first women’s skeet team and finished an impressive fourth place, just missing out on an Olympic medal. Maheshwari, who holds eight national records in women’s skeet, continues to strive towards her long-term goal of winning India’s first Olympic medal and becoming a world champion in skeet shooting, while also inspiring the next generation of Indian shotgun shooters.
Who is Raiza Dhillon?
Raiza Dhillon (born 20 April 2004) is an Indian skeet shooter from Chandigarh, who specializes in the women’s skeet event. He started shooting at the age of 16, inspired by his father Ravijit Singh Dhillon, whose passion for the sport motivated him to pursue it competitively. Raiza made her international debut for India at the 2021 ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. She takes training from famous Italian coach Riccardo Filippelli at the National Center of Excellence (NCOE), New Delhi and represents Haryana in the National Championship.
Raiza has emerged as one of India’s top female skeet shooters through her brilliant performance on the international stage. She created history by securing India’s first Olympic quota in women’s skeet for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the 2024 Asian Shotgun Championships. Her achievements also include winning silver medals at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Kuwait and the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany and New Delhi. In the country, she created a national record of 122/125 in both senior and junior categories and won the gold medal in senior women’s skeet at the 2025 National Championship. With her sights set on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, Raiza remains one of India’s most promising players in shotgun shooting.

Who is Parinaaz Dhaliwal?
Parinaaz Dhaliwal was born on 30 November 2001 in Patiala. She is a specialist in Skeet Women’s, Skeet Team and Mixed Team Skeet events. She started shooting at New Moti Bagh Gun Club in 2015, initially after trying trap she switched to skeet, she found this discipline more challenging and interesting. After progressing through the junior ranks, Parinaaz competed at the ISSF World Championships, ISSF World Cup, ISSF Junior World Cup and asian games She has represented India in, and has made herself one of the top female skeet shooters of India. She has been consistently ranked among the world’s top skeet athletes by the ISSF.
Parinaaz won her first ISSF medal with a bronze medal in the Junior Women’s Skeet Team event at the 2022 ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. She later won the silver medal in the women’s skeet team event at the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi (2021). She represented India at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where the Indian women’s skeet team finished fourth, and continues to compete regularly on the international circuit, including the ISSF World Championships and the World Cup.

India’s men’s skeet team also made it to the podium. The team of Anantjit Singh Naruka, experienced Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill won bronze with a total of 346 points. India stood third after China and Kazakhstan. Anantjeet scored 119, Mairaj scored 116 and Bhavtegh scored 111. Ananthjeet has also qualified for the individual finals. In the skeet event, each shooter can score a maximum of 125 points. With these two bronzes, India now has four silver and three bronze medals in its account from the shooting range.
