The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy snowfall in Kashmir and Chenab Valley from late Sunday night to Monday morning.
Fog is being seen all over North India. According to IMD, zero visibility was recorded at 7 airports in the country on Saturday. Due to this, 400 flights remained delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for the second consecutive day. Apart from this, 19 flights had to be diverted, while 45 were cancelled.
The diverted flights included 13 domestic, 4 international and 2 non-scheduled flights. Earlier on Friday also, more than 400 flights were halted in Delhi due to fog. IGI Airport operates around 1300 flights daily.
There was zero visibility in Palam for about 9 hours from 6 pm on Friday to 3 am on Saturday, which was the longest period of this season. At the same time, Northern Railway said that 81 trains were running late due to fog. Of these, 59 trains were delayed by 6 hours and 22 trains were delayed by about 8 hours.
Apart from Delhi, there was zero visibility at Palam, Safdarjung, Amritsar, Agra, Hindon, Chandigarh and Gwalior airports also. The first flight, Subar, could land at Srinagar airport at 11:13.
