The Indian cricket team for the T20 series against Ireland and England as well as the Asian Games was announced on June 6 (Saturday). The team will be captained by Shreyas Iyer, while Tilak Verma has been made the vice-captain of the team.
15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been included in the senior team for the first time. Suryakumar Yadav He has been stripped of his T20 captaincy and has not even been included in the team.
On the decision to remove Suryakumar Yadav from captaincy Ajit Agarkar Said, ‘In the last few years we have watched Shreyas’s captaincy closely. He has successfully led different franchises. Recently he led his team to the title and his personal performance has also been excellent.
Ajit Agarkar further said, ‘He was very close to being included in the World Cup team and in my view was one of the strongest contenders for captaincy. As far as Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) is concerned, it was not easy to take this decision. His current form was also a reason for this.

Ajit Agarkar said, ‘At the same time, we took the decision keeping in mind the next two-year cycle and the future of the team. We felt that this was the best way to move forward. Shreyas fully deserves this responsibility.
Suryakumar Yadav achieved great success as T20 captain. Under his leadership, India registered memorable victories in T20 cricket. Suryakumar captained the Indian team in 52 T20 International matches, in which the team won 40 matches. The Indian team lost 8 matches.
While two matches were tied and two had no result. The Indian team did not lose a single series under the captaincy of Surya. Under Surya, India won the Asia Cup 2025 and the T20 World Cup this year. That means Surya’s performance as captain was unmatched. The winning percentage under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav was 76.96.
