Heavy rain may occur over parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karnataka. There may be rain and thundershowers in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. There is a possibility of strong winds at the speed of 40-60kmph in many areas. June 19: Monsoon will advance if the jet stream weakens. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds will strengthen if the current pattern of the jet stream weakens. In the next 4-5 days, conditions may arise for the advance of monsoon into Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and other parts. Jet streams are extremely strong winds flowing in the upper layers of the atmosphere. This is usually a height of about 8 to 15 kilometers from the earth’s surface. These affect monsoon clouds and western disturbances.
