Voting ended on Wednesday for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra and 38 assembly seats of the second phase in Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, voting was held on 42 seats in the first phase on 13 November. There are 81 seats in the state. The results of both the states will come on November 23.
There have been 7 exit polls in Maharashtra. Of these, BJP coalition government is expected to be formed in 6, while Congress coalition government is expected to be formed in one. So far 4 exit polls have come for Jharkhand. In all three, BJP alliance is expected to get majority.

There were two opinion polls before the elections.

In 2019, the BJP-Shiv Sena (undivided) alliance got the majority in Maharashtra. In comparison to 2014, both the alliance’s seats and vote share had fallen. The alliance had won 161 seats and the vote share was 42%. In 2014, this alliance had got 185 seats, of which BJP had 122 seats and Shiv Sena had 63 seats. The vote share was 47.6%.

In May 2022, Shinde rebelled with 39 MLAs. Uddhav resigned after political drama. Within 24 hours, Shinde took oath as CM and Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Deputy CM.
2023: Ajit Pawar rebels, NCP breaks up On the 25th foundation day of NCP on 10 June 2023, Sharad Pawar announced the names of two working presidents of the party, Praful Patel and Supriya Sule. Seeing signs of NCP being sidelined, on July 2, 2023, Ajit Pawar joined Mahayuti with 41 MLAs and became Deputy CM in Shinde government.

Hemant took oath as CM twice in 5 years, Champai joined BJP In 2019, JMM, Congress and RJD together won 47 seats and formed the government. On January 31, Hemant was arrested in the land scam. In his place, JMM’s Champai Soren was made the CM on February 2. To prevent the fall of the coalition government, 37 JMM-Congress MLAs were shifted to Hyderabad.
Hemant got bail after being in jail for 5 months. Champai resigned on 3 July. On July 4, Hemant took oath as Jharkhand CM for the third time. On May 28, Champai resigned from JMM, accusing Hemant Sarkar of spying on him. Champai joined BJP on 30 May.
