Bollywood actress and singer Sulakshana Pandit passed away at 8 pm on Thursday night in Mumbai. She was 71 years old. At present the cause of his death has not been revealed. It is being told that she was ill for a long time. Sulakshana Pandit breathed her last at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.

Sulakshana wanted to marry Sanjeev Kumar, but Sanjeev rejected her proposal. After this Sulakshana was mentally broken.

Started singing at the age of 9 Sulakshana Pandit was born on 12 July 1954. She belonged to a musical family. His uncle was the great classical singer Pandit Jasraj. He had three brothers and three sisters. Brothers Jatin and Lalit are famous music directors. Whereas, his sister Vijeta Pandit is an actress and playback singer.

Sulakshana started singing at the age of just 9 and started playback singing in films in 1967. In the year 1975, he received the Filmfare Award for the song ‘Tu Hi Sagar Hai Tu Hi Kinara’ from the film ‘Sankalp’.

Sulakshana Pandit’s career was at its peak in the 1970s and early 80s. She was one of the well-known actresses of Bollywood during that period. He worked with almost all the top actors of that time, including Jeetendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Shashi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha.

His film journey started in 1975 with the film ‘Uljhan’. She then played the role of Lalita in Anil Ganguly’s film ‘Sankoch’ (1976), which was based on the novel Parineeta. He played memorable roles in films like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Apnapan’, ‘Khandaan’, ‘Chehre Pe Chehra’, ‘Dharam Kanta’ and ‘Waqt Ki Deewar’.

Sulakshana also worked in Bengali cinema. She worked with veteran actor Uttam Kumar in the film ‘Bandi’ in 1978.

Sulakshana never married Her incomplete relationship with actor Sanjeev Kumar left a deep impact on her life. Later he had to face health and financial problems. It is said that Sulakshana Pandit was deeply in love with actor Sanjeev Kumar. During the shooting of the film ‘Uljhan’ in 1975, their love blossomed and she proposed marriage to Sanjeev Kumar.

In the film Ulzhan, Sanjeev Kumar played the role of Anand K. Chandra and Sulakshana Pandit played the role of Karuna.

However, Sanjeev Kumar rejected his proposal. The reason for this was Sanjeev’s one-sided love for Hema Malini. Sanjeev Kumar wanted to marry Hema Malini, but Hema rejected his proposal. Sanjeev Kumar could never recover from the heartache he experienced from Hema.

Here, Sulakshana Pandit was completely broken after Sanjeev Kumar’s refusal. He decided to remain celibate throughout his life and spent his life in solitude. After Sanjeev’s death, Sulakshana became mentally unstable and lived with her sister Vijayata Pandit for several years.
