Destroying the Navy: The goal of America and Israel was to weaken or almost destroy Iran’s navy, so that it could not carry out any major attack or hindrance through the sea. For this, warships, submarines, naval bases and ports and ships carrying weapons and missiles were targeted. In early March, an American submarine fired torpedoes and sank the Iranian warship IRIS Dena near Sri Lanka. There were about 180 people on this ship. According to initial reports, at least 80 people died. The attack was significant as the ship was capable of long range operations and had recently participated in a naval exercise with India. Many big ships and resources of Iran were destroyed by these attacks. His strength in the sea became weaker than before. Ability to operate over long distances decreased. However, it still has the potential to pose a threat at sea. Iran has small speed boats, which it can still use. It can adopt tactics like laying mines in the sea, which can have a big impact even with a small force in narrow sea lanes like Hormuz. 3. Weakening the Iran-backed militias. America and Israel wanted to weaken the armed groups that Iran supports. These groups work for Iran in different countries and also carry out attacks when needed. That is why these are called ‘proxy’ powers. They were targeted during the war. Israel launched several attacks especially on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Many commanders and fighters were also killed. This has affected their strength, but this effect has not been able to completely eliminate them. America’s biggest objective was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Trump has repeatedly said that Iran should never have a nuclear bomb. Last year, America attacked three nuclear sites of Iran, causing huge damage to them. Yet US officials believe some enriched uranium still exists in tunnels underground. This uranium may be hidden in deep tunnels under the ground or in bunker-like locations, where the impact of air attacks cannot reach completely. If they have to be destroyed completely, then troops may have to be sent on the ground, which would be a very risky step and could make the war even bigger. 5. Change of power in Iran: Trump had also appealed to the people of Iran to rise against the government. But no such big mass movement has taken place yet. However, Trump claims that he has brought about a regime change, because Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many senior officials were killed in the attacks. But the situation appears different on the ground. Now the new supreme leader has become Mojtaba Khamenei, who is considered to have a tough stance and is close to the powerful part of the army.
