Asha Parekh wanted to become a doctor in childhood, but after seeing a train accident, she changed her mind. He also had a special attachment to dance. Famous actor Premnath was impressed by his talent and sent him to Kathak Guru Mohanlal Pandey. During a stage program, director Bimal Roy saw Asha Parekh and gave her the role of a child artist in his film Maa (1952).

Asha Parekh worked as a child artist in films like sky, father-daughter, washerman doctor, Asha and Ustad.

Asha Parekh never married. During an event in the year 2017, she said that it is more important for her to get married well, just more than getting married because she did not want to marry only for the name.

In his autobiography, Parekh admitted that he had a relationship with filmmaker Nasir Hussain. Hussain was married to Ayesha Khan and had two children. Asha Parekh considers her her only love, but she did not decide to marry because she did not want to be someone who broke anyone’s home nor did she want her children to hurt.

Nasir Hussain was Bollywood’s famous director, writer and producer. He has worked in films like memories of memories, Tumsa Dekha and Dil De De Loo Dekho.

Asha Parekh also told that there was never any bitterness between her and Hussain’s family. His children Nusrat and Imran were also present at the launch of his book. Shashi Kapoor wore a burqa to meet Asha Parekh

Asha Parekh was shooting for the film ‘Mere Sanam’ in Kashmir. At the same time, actor Shammi Kapoor was shooting for the film Jab Jab Jab Phool Khile. Asha Parekh was the top heroine at that time and Shashi Kapoor was not a big star.

During the shooting, Shashi Kapoor used to say to his co -actress Shammi of the film -“Do something, I have to give hope to Asha.” On this, Shammi made a plan that Shashi Kapoor can get a burqa and make disguise of women and meet with hope.

Asha Parekh used to call Shammi Kapoor with love as uncle. However, there was a time when rumors of marriage of both of them were also flown.

Asha Parekh had told about the rumors of marriage related to Shammi Kapoor in Arbaaz Khan’s show ‘The Invinesables Series’ that shooting was going on in Mahabaleshwar, and suddenly the film producer Om Prakash jokingly said that Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh were married. From 1998 to 2001, Asha Parekh became the first female chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

It was released in India after two years. People protested about the film and said that it is against Indian culture. Asha Parekh wrote in her autobiography that the film showed love between two women in a beautiful way and without any sensation. He clearly said that there was no reason to stop this film or remove which scene of Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das.

In 1998, Mumbai Police Commissioner Ronnie Mendonka requested Asha Parekh to allow pre-screening to Maharashtra Police before the CBFC certificate is issued. Parekh accepted this proposal and asked the senior police officers to clear the wounds of Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt.

Mahesh Bhatt had threatened Asha Parekh about the film and said that if she would not pass the film, she will go to Delhi and get the film passed.

In his autobiography ‘The Hit Girl’, which was published a year later, Asha Parekh said that meeting the minister was the biggest mistake in his life. He said that the minister’s claim hurt him and shared a different details of the incident.

Dharmendra used to eat onion for shooting with Asha Parekh

Dharmendra had told in the reality show superstar singer that he was working with Asha Parekh during the shooting of the film Aa Din Bahar.

After the shooting was over, Dharmendra used to drink alcohol till late night with director and other crew members. When the shooting started in the morning, there was a smell of alcohol from his mouth. They used to eat onions to hide it.

Dharmendra had said, “Once Asha Parekh complained to me that my mouth smelled alcohol. I told him the whole truth. After this, Asha ji advised me to give up alcohol and we became good friends.”

At the same time, Asha Parekh also shared an anecdote about the same film on the TV show. He had said, “A scene of the film was being shot in water in Darjeeling. There was a lot of cold, and as soon as Dharmendra came out, people offered him brandy, but they would not look at me and drink brandy.
