In the tradition of Jivitputrika fast, it is said to consume water, food and fruits in Brahmamuhurta a day before. After this, on Ashtami Tithi, women keep Nirjala fast for the whole day and night. That means, even water is not consumed during the fast.

- In the evening, the idol of Jimutavahana made from Kusha is worshipped.
- Materials like water, Panchamrit, Rakshasutra, sandalwood, flowers, Akshat, incense, lamp and naivedya are offered in the worship.
