PM Modi visited Russia after 5 years on 8 July. During this, he hugged President Putin.
America has once again expressed its displeasure over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia. America said that the timing of Modi’s visit and the message conveyed by it was extremely disappointing. In fact, when PM Modi visited Russia on July 8, a meeting of NATO countries was also going on at the same time.
The US Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs discussed this issue on Wednesday. US State Department official Donald Lu said, “We are in touch with Indian officials in this matter. America was closely monitoring Modi’s Moscow visit. No major defense agreement was signed between the two countries. Neither did they have any specific discussion on sharing technology.”
The US official said in the meeting, “PM Modi told Putin on live TV that the problem cannot be solved on the battlefield. Modi also expressed grief over the death of children in the war.” The White House also praised the lack of a defense agreement between India and Russia.
At the same time, Republican Party member Joe Wilson expressed surprise at Modi hugging Putin on the day of the attack on a children’s hospital in Ukraine. Earlier, on July 19, the Foreign Ministry had reacted to the US ambassador’s statement on Modi’s visit.

India had said- we have the freedom to take our own decisions
Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said that India, like other countries, values its strategic independence. The US ambassador has the right to express his opinion. Similarly, we too can have our own and different views.
Jaiswal had said, “Our friendship with America gives us the freedom to respect each other’s point of view. In this, we can agree and disagree with each other on many issues.”
The US ambassador had said- do not take friendship lightly
US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti addressed a defense conclave in New Delhi about 15 days ago. During this, he said that the relationship between New Delhi and Washington is very deep and strong, but it is not so strong that it can be taken lightly.
The US ambassador had also said that India likes its strategic independence but it has no meaning on the battlefield. He had said that now the world is interconnected. Now war is not far away, so we will not only have to stand for peace but also take action against countries creating unrest.
The US ambassador had said that this is something that the US and India will have to understand together. It is important for both of us to remember that whatever we invest in this relationship, we will get the same result.

US Ambassador Eric Garcetti said at an event last week that the India-US friendship is not so strong that it can be taken lightly.
US ambassador said – both countries need a reliable partner
The US ambassador also said that he has not come to this event to give a speech, but he has come here to listen, learn and remind people of shared values. Emphasizing on India-US relations, he said that India sees its future with America and America also sees its future with India.
This comment of the American diplomat was seen in connection with the recent visit of PM Modi to Russia. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia on 8 July this month. During this, he met President Putin.
