India and Pakistan have gone to war 5 times so far. Pakistan has faced defeat in all.
America’s large think tank Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has warned that there could be another war between India and Pakistan in 2026. According to CFR report ‘Conflicts to Watch in 2026’, there is a moderate possibility of conflict between the two countries due to increase in terrorist activities in Kashmir.
It has been said in the report that if there is a conflict between India and Pakistan, it may have a moderate impact on the interests of America. Although there has been no major terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir yet, but according to intelligence agencies, more than 30 Pakistani terrorists are active in the Jammu region this winter.
Here, despite the ceasefire between India and Pakistan on May 10, both the countries have intensified the purchase of arms. The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) in India has recently approved defense deals worth Rs 79 thousand crore, which include drones, air-to-air missiles and guided bombs.
On the other hand, Pakistan has also started talks to buy new drones and air defense systems from Turkey and China, so that the weaknesses revealed during Operation Sindoor can be removed.

In the war between India and Pakistan in May 2025, India had destroyed 9 airbases of PAK.
There is also a possibility of Afghanistan-Pakistan conflict
The report points to another big danger. According to the CFR, there is also a moderate possibility of armed conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2026, although its impact on US interests will be less.
In October, there were fierce clashes between Pakistan and Taliban-ruled Afghanistan on the 2600 km long Durand Line. The armies of both the countries had fired at each other in many areas and claimed to have destroyed border posts. After this, relations and trade between the two countries have been badly affected.

Pakistan attacked Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan in October.
Warning to US policymakers
This CFR report is based on a survey of American foreign policy experts. Its purpose is to alert American policymakers about areas where conflict could erupt in the future. In the report, conflicts have been divided into three categories Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3, so that it can be understood where the possibility of conflict and how serious its impact can be.
The report indicates that South Asia could once again become the center of major geopolitical tension in the coming years, with the situation threatening to worsen on both the India-Pakistan and Pakistan-Afghanistan fronts.
Now know about CFR…
