The US has canceled visas of officials and their families of some Indian companies. The American embassy said that these people were suspected to be involved in smuggling of chemicals associated with Phentineel (a dangerous synthetic drug).
According to the embassy, after the cancellation of the visa, the people concerned and their families may now be disqualified to travel to the US. Along with this, the visa investigation of the officers associated with the companies that are alleged to have been accused of smuggling will also be tightened.
The US Embassy clearly said,
Those who supply illegal drugs in our country will not be allowed to enter America.
US Embassy has also thanked the Government of India for cooperation in action.
Trump described 23 countries including India as drug smugglers
Trump has included 23 countries in the list of drug smuggling and illegal drug production countries. These countries include countries like India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Colombia, Bolivia and Venezuela.
Trump said in the ‘Presidential Determination Report’ submitted to the US Parliament on 15 September that illegal drug production and smuggling in these countries are a threat to the security of the US and its citizens.
Trump said that deadly drugs such as drug smuggling, especially Fentanell have created conditions like National Emergency in the US. This is causing public health crisis and is the main reason for the death of Americans aged 18 to 44 years.
Phentineile is believed to be responsible for thousands of deaths every year in the US. Trump’s administration is running a tough campaign against this drug and its chemicals.
Trump’s action on drugs after becoming President again
- February 2025: Make America Healthy Again Commission established, stating that 77% of drug use among the youth are disqualified for military service.
- 1 April 2025: The Trump government issued the National Drug Control Strategy, which insisted on reducing drug overdose deaths and reducing the use of illegal drugs.
- 31 July 2025: Trump signed an executive order to increase the tariff on Canada to 25% to 35%. He said that National Emergency has been born due to smuggling of Phentineel.
- 4 September 2025: Trump claimed drug smugglers as war animi (war enemies) and claimed military action. Said that they have the power to kill drug smugglers without trial.
- 15 September 2025: Trump claimed that 300 million Americans (30 million) died of drugs in 2024. This figure is equivalent to the total population of the US (34 crore). According to data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were only 79,383 deaths in 2024.
