US President Donald Trump ordered the homeless people to vacate the capital immediately at Washington DC. He said that this decision is being taken to deal with the problem of crime.

Trump wrote on social media site Truth Social that the homeless people would have to go out of the capital. The homeless will be given a place to live, but that place will be far from the capital.

The US President also said that there is no need to send criminals anywhere, as they will be directly imprisoned.

Sharing pictures of tents and dirt on social media, he said that now there is no time for ‘Mr. Nice Cow (Softening)’. Now the capital Washington will have to be cleaned and safe.

Trump deploys 450 officers in the capital

Trump had earlier also said that homeless people from cities would be removed and settled in ‘good quality’ tents on cheap land outside. Here they will get the facility of toilets and doctors.

Trump signed an order on July 24, making it easier to arrest the homeless people. Last week, Trump claimed that the crime in Washington had become completely uncontrollable.

Due to this, he deployed 450 officers in the city. It included officers of federal agencies like Park Police, DEA, FBI and US Marshal.

Mayor said- Crime reduced in the capital

Washington DC Mayor Murial Bosar opposed Trump’s claims, saying that in the last two years, violent crime has been reduced to a 30 -year low. He admitted that the crime had increased in 2023, but now there is no such situation.

He also criticized the statement of the White House official Stephen Miller in which he called Washington ‘more violent than Baghdad’, and was described as false and exaggerated.

98 murders took place in the capital this year Washington DC has accelerated hatred crimes related to racial discrimination in recent months. On August 9, the mass firing in Baltimore killed at least 6 people, including a child.

On the same day, an incident of firing took place at Times Square, New York, in which three people were injured and the accused was a minor. These incidents are happening at a time when immigration rules are being strict in the US and are being threatened to arrest those who violate.

The per capita murder rate in the capital Washington is higher than that of many American cities. There have been 98 murders so far this year. However, statistics suggest that violent offenses (including car theft, attack and robbery) last year remained the lowest in the last 30 years.

Around 3800 people homeless in Washington DC

Around 3,782 people in Washington DC are homeless, about 800 people live in the open. The rest live in the shelter home. Washington DC is not a state but a district, so the federal government has special rights here, but the President does not have direct control over the local police.

Trump threatened to take control of the police department. However, Mayor Bosar said that this is not possible in the current situation. Trump called Mayor Bosar a ‘good person’, but also said that despite his efforts, crime is increasing and the city is becoming dirty and less attractive.
