Caller tune was launched last year to alert people with cybercrime.

If you too have been upset by listening to the message of cybercrime in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan on calling every time, then this voice will not be heard now. The Government of India has finally closed the collar tune with cybercrime alert.

This caller tune was ringing before every call for the last few months, which aims to make people aware of cyber fraud, fishing and online scams. However, for some time people were demanding to be disturbed by it.

Caller tune started in September 2024

In September 2024, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (i4C) of the Union Home Ministry started this awareness campaign in view of the increasing cases of cybercrime.

It had a 40 second long message in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan. In this, people were being warned by the dangers of fake calls, unknown links and OTP sharing.

Initially, this initiative was highly praised, because every day thousands of people in the country are falling prey to cyber fraud. However, gradually this collar tune became a headache for the people.

People were complaining about 40 second long messages

People complained that this 40 -second long message was a lot of trouble before every call, especially in emergency. Some had filed questions on its need by entering RTI.

The government first reduced the frequency of this caller tune from 8-10 times a day and was closed during emergency calls (police, ambulance, fire brigade). But now it has been completely removed.

For a few months, people on social media were expressing displeasure over this caller tune. Many users described it as ‘annoyed’, especially during emergency calls, it was considered the cause of delay.

Former BJP MLA complained to Union Minister Scindia

Former BJP MLA from Indore, Sudarshan Gupta complained to Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. He told how this tune was delayed in calling for the help of the injured person in the road accident. Scindia also accepted this problem and said that action will be taken soon.

Amitabh Bachchan was being trolled on social media

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan also faced trolling due to this collar tune. Late on Monday night (23 June) Amitabh Bachchan wrote from his official X account, ‘Yes, I am also a fan.’ After some time he improved and wrote again, ‘Huzur, not Hijur. The mistake of writing, forgive. ‘

On this, a troller said on Big B’s cybercrime caller tune- ‘So stop speaking on the call brother.’ In response to this, Big B wrote- ‘Speak the government, brother, he told us.

There was a dispute during Kovid epidemic

This is not the first time that there is a ruckus on Amitabh Bachchan’s sound collar tune. An awareness message was also run in his voice during Kovid-19. It was advised to wear masks, social dispensing and hand sanitization.

There was a dispute over this when Amitabh Bachchan and some people of his family were infected with Korona. At that time, a user, troubled by the caller tune, also filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court, demanding his voice to be removed.

Why are the caller tunes used?

Caller tune is considered an effective medium of awareness in India, as the number of telephone users in the country is very high. Especially in rural areas, where the access of internet and TV can be limited, the message easily reaches the people through caller tunes. However, listening to the same message for a long time also upset people, as seen in the case of Kovid and Cybercrime Caller Tune.
