Ajay Ratra has been made a member of the selection committee.
Former Indian wicketkeeper batsman Ajay Ratra has been made a member of Team India’s selection committee. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed about his inclusion in the committee. Ratra will replace Salil Ankol in the committee.
Ajay Ratra has played 6 Tests and 12 ODIs for India. Playing domestic cricket for Haryana, he scored 4029 runs in 99 first-class matches.
Ratra has been the coach of Assam and Punjab
Ajay Ratra has been the head coach of Assam, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. Ratra was part of the coaching staff with Team India that went to South Africa to play the ODI series in 2023. He also has experience of working with the coaching staff of Delhi Capitals in IPL.

Ajay Ratra will work under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar in the BCCI selection committee. Along with him, Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee and Sridharan Sharath are also part of the selection committee. BCCI formed the new selection committee before the Asia Cup in 2023. With the team of the new selection committee, India won the Asia Cup and reached the finals in the ODI World Cup. The team also won the T20 World Cup this year.

As a selection committee member, Ratra’s first challenge will be the Bangladesh series. Team India will play 2 Tests and 3 T20s against Bangladesh. The team for this series has not been announced yet. Under Agarkar’s leadership, Ratra and other members will select the team for this series.
After Bangladesh, Team India will play series against New Zealand, Australia and England. Team India’s biggest challenge will be the Test series in Australia and the Champions Trophy starting next year.
