Akshaye Khanna is in controversy due to leaving ‘Drishyam-3’. The makers of the film have sent a legal notice to Akshay. Amidst this controversy, Akshay’s friend and director-writer Rumi Jaffrey has come out in his support. He claims that there has been no change in Akshay after the success of Dhurandhar.
Talking to Bollywood Hungama, he said, ‘Even when he did not have any producer lined up to sign him, he used to choose films very thoughtfully. Now that he has many options, he is still not signing films in a hurry.
I don’t know what happened between Akshay and the producer (Kumar Mangat Pathak). But Akshaye Khanna is so professional that he will not step back from any work unless he has a valid reason for doing so.

Rumi Jaffrey had made ‘Gali-Gali Chor Hai’ with Akshay in 2012.
When Rumi was asked what could be the disturbing elements for leaving the film? In response to this, Rumi says to Akshay – ‘I don’t know. But I do know that when I signed him for ‘Gali Gali Chor Hai’, Akshay was constantly requesting me to sign an actor who was more marketable. Does this sound like a greedy person?’
At the same time, the film’s director Abhishek Pathak, reacting to Akshay Khanna’s exit from ‘Drishyam-3’, has challenged him to make a solo film. Also, Ajay Devgan’s reaction to Akshay leaving the film suddenly has also been revealed.
Abhishek told ETimes- ‘He (Ajay) had completely left it to me. Well, this is all related to my Akshay and production so, I would like to leave aside the aspect of how we resolved this matter.
All this happened after the contract was signed in November. He left the film five days before shooting began. The look was finalized, costumes were being made, narration was done and he liked the story very much.

Abhishek further revealed that Akshay had left the film a day before the release of Dhurandhar and the first differences of opinion arose when the actor insisted on wearing a wig. Abhishek explained that since the film starts from where the previous installment ended, Akshay’s character could not wear a wig in the third part.

He told that he discussed this issue with Akshay and initially managed to convince him, but after a few days this demand came up again. Abhishek assured Akshay that the matter would be resolved, but Akshay walked out of the project.
Abhishek also dismissed the rumors of Akshay being paid Rs 21 crore for the film and claimed that such news was being spread by Akshay himself.
