The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has canceled the license of Zepto in Dharavi after getting flaws in food items. This has been confirmed by the FDA itself. FDA gave this statement on cancellation of license
The FDA’s statement has also come on cancellation of the license. In the statement, the FDA has said that the food business license of Kirecart Technologies Private Limited (ZEPTO), Mumbai has been suspended immediately. This action has been taken after the order of Honorable Food and Drug Administration Minister of State for Administration Yogesh Kadam.
Joint Commissioner (Food) inspected the company under the guidance of Mangesh Mane by Food Safety Officer Ram Bodke. During inspection, the establishment was found to be failed to follow the conditions of the license and violated the major provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Food Safety and Standards (License and Registration of Food Business) Regulations, 2011.
These flaws found during inspection
-Fung on some foods.
-Putting the products near the filled or stable water, which reflects poor hygiene.
-The temperature of cold storage was not maintained according to regulatory standards.
-Unorganized storage of inferior substances, some were placed directly on wet and dirty floors.
-Axpier food products were not clearly separated from non-experogical stock.
In view of these serious violations, an order was issued by Anupama Balasaheb Patil, Assistant Commissioner (Food) Section 32 (3) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Food Safety and Standards (License and Registration of Food Business and Registration) Regulations, Under Regulations 2.1.8 (4) of 2011, an order to suspend the food business license immediately.

The suspension will remain in force until the establishment receives full regulatory compliance and does not get approval from the competent authority. However, during a surprise inspection conducted by Food Safety Officer Abhinandan Ranadive and Food Assistant Commissioner Anupama Balasaheb Patil on 29 May 2025, it was found that the operations were resumed despite the official notice of stopping commercial activity.
