‘We Get Things Done’: US Embassy Posts Trump’s Praise For PM Modi Amid Iran War

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I are two people that get things done,” read a message from U.S. President Donald Trump posted by the American Embassy in India on Friday amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

However, it remains unclear when President Trump made the remarks. In his message, he called for stronger ties with India, adding that “this is something that cannot be said for most”.

“Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most – President Donald J. Trump,” the US Embassy in India wrote in a post on ‘X’.

Back in February, Trump had made a similar remark as he announced the much-anticipated US-India trade deal. “He is one of my greatest friends and, a Powerful and Respected Leader of his Country,” he had said.

Modi-Trump Phone Call

Trump’s remarks came days after he held a phone call with Prime Minister Modi, during which the two leaders discussed the escalating tensions in West Asia.

This was the first conversation between Modi and Trump since the beginning of the war, following the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

During the call, PM Modi pressed for de-escalation and the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.

The Strait of Hormuz — which accounts for nearly one-fifth of the global oil and gas trade — was effectively blocked by Iran as it continued retaliatory attacks across the Gulf.

On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated the Strait of Hormuz remains accessible to friendly nations, including India, Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iraq.
