Images have emerged showing the damage caused to a US aircraft in Iranian retaliatory missile in Saudi Arabia.
An Iranian missile strike on the Prince Sultan air base in Saudi Arabia damaged an American E-3 Sentry, an airborne warning and control aircraft that is critical in managing battlespace and tracking drones, missiles and aircraft, and aerial refueling tankers, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
At least 12 American personnel were injured in the strike, with two in serious condition. The attack reportedly involved six ballistic missiles and 29 drones.
The E-3 Sentry AWACS isn’t just a regular plane—it’s a tricked-out Boeing 707 that works as an airborne command center. It can spot targets, identify what’s out there, and keep tabs on battlefield chaos for up to 250 miles all around.
The newly released images, published by Iran’s Press TV, showed the body of the plane obliterated, with only the head and tail intact.

According to Press TV, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) used long-range and medium-range missile systems, along with attack drones, to target facilities linked to US and Israeli interests. Iran also claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 drone and hit an F-16 jet.
Prince Sultan Air Base is a key hub for US air operations in the Middle East, supporting missions ranging from intelligence gathering to aerial refueling and strike coordination. Aircraft such as the E-3 Sentry play a crucial role in airborne surveillance and command, while tanker planes are essential for extending the operational reach of combat aircraft in the region.
The base has been targeted repeatedly since the US and Israel began their unprovoked war on Iran on February 28.
