The Supreme Court has upheld the decision of the Rajasthan High Court, which had said that reserved category candidates who score more marks than the cut-off of the general (General/Open) category should be considered in the open category at the shortlisting stage itself and not be restricted to their reserved category only. A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih confirmed the division bench’s decision of September 18, 2023, dismissing the appeals filed by the Rajasthan High Court administration and its Registrar. This matter is related to the recruitment process started by Rajasthan High Court in August 2022, in which applications were invited for 2,756 posts (Junior Judicial Assistant and Clerk Grade-II).
