No Detention Policy For Class 5th And 8th: Children who fail in class 5th and 8th will no longer be promoted to the next class. The Central Government has ended the ‘No Detention Policy’ on Monday. Earlier, under this rule, students who failed were promoted to another class. Under the new rule they will now be considered failed. To pass, they will have to retake the exam. Unless they pass, they will not be promoted. However, schools cannot expel such students. The new policy of the Central Government will affect more than 3 thousand schools including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and Sainik Schools. This policy has already been abolished in 16 states and 2 union territories (Delhi and Puducherry).
