The case related to Ashok Kharat has once again raised serious questions about the so-called gurus and fake babas running in the name of religion and spirituality. In a conversation on this issue, former Bollywood actress and Mahamandaleshwar Yogini Mamta Kulkarni has given a very sharp and clear opinion. Mamta Kulkarni says that in today’s era, religion and spirituality have become a medium of “business” and not of knowledge. Without hard sadhana and self-knowledge, people are declaring themselves as incarnations and accomplished men, the direct result of which is exploitation of common people, especially women.

“One does not become a saint or an astrologer by reading two books” Yogini Mamta said that spirituality is not a shortcut path. “The meaning of meditation is understood only after four-five years of continuous sadhana. Only one who has attained the self-accomplished state can give real self-knowledge.” He says that today every second person starts calling himself an astrologer or a sage after reading two-three books, whereas real sadhana requires years of penance, discipline and restraint.

Warning on misconceptions regarding Kundalini awakening
According to Mamta Kulkarni, mere awakening of Kundalini is not an accomplishment. “Until the Kundalini Shakti is stable from Mooladhar to Sahasrara, a person is not called perfect. And as long as the sexual desire remains, it remains an animal state.” He clearly said that the so-called gurus whose lives are full of greed, lust and lust for power are far away from enlightenment.

Ashok described cases like Kharat as ‘result of ignorance and greed’

Responding to the allegations against Ashok Kharat, Mamta Kulkarni said that this case is not an exception, but a symptom of a long-running disease. “In the name of Gods and Goddesses, people were exploited by scaring them, making false claims of showing the future and luring them with solutions to their problems.” He believes that in the name of religion, such people are confusing the society, because the public is not using its own discretion.

Direct appeal to women: Discretion is necessary

On the question of exploitation of women, Mamta Kulkarni said bluntly, “Why does someone call you to the bedroom in the name of astrology or sadhana? If there is impurity in speech, then one should be alerted there.” He appealed that the real identity of any Guru, Sadhu or Godman should be determined by his speech, conduct and restraint – and not by miracles.

Sharp attack on the post of Mahamandaleshwar

Mamta Kulkarni admitted that after becoming Mahamandaleshwar, she closely observed that a market has been created for this post too. “Today, hundreds of Mahamandaleshwars are being created every day. Most of them have neither knowledge nor sadhana – just costumes.” He told that for this reason he rejected many offers and continued to follow the path of Akhand Sadhana.

“No one can predict the future”
Sharing his experience he said, “I did rigorous penance for 25 years, yet I don’t know what the next moment will bring. Then how can someone else decide your future?” According to him, true spirituality makes a person self-reliant and not dependent on any Baba.
