Israel’s military has said that interceptors were launched in both cases on Saturday as the Israeli cities of Dimona and Arad came under Iranian missile attack. The interceptors, however, failed to stop the incoming fire, the Israeli military said. More than 90 per cent of launches are typically intercepted, said Israeli military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin.
The two Iranian missiles injured more than 150 people, according to hospital officials.
The military is also investigating whether its own artillery fire accidentally killed an Israeli farmer in the country’s north in Kibbutz Misgav Am on Sunday morning, Defrin said.
The official further said that the military expects several more weeks of fighting.
