Further, Tehran has threatened to expand its retaliatory attacks to tourist and recreational sites worldwide, raising fresh concerns about the widening scope of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Iran’s top military spokesman, General Abolfazl Shekarchi, warned that “parks, recreational areas and tourist destinations” would no longer be safe for Tehran’s enemies, as the US announced it was sending more warships and Marines to the region.
As conflict in West Asia continues to escalate, Iran’s national security chief Ali Larijani, top commander of the IRGC’s Basij force, Gholamreza Soleimani, and Iranian intelligence minister Esmail Khatib were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
According to Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, the US-Israeli attacks on Iran have killed more than 1,300 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top Iranian officials.
The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has warned that the toll may be even higher, estimating at least 1,858 people have been killed, including both civilians and military personnel.
