The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday announced that the notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2026 has been postponed. The detailed recruitment notices, which were scheduled to be released on January 14, will now be issued at a later date.

As per the earlier schedule, the notification for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 through the CS(P) Examination 2026 was to be released on January 14. However, the Commission has deferred the release.

The official notice stated, “The Notification of Civil Services Examination, 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, scheduled to be notified on 14.01.2026, has now been postponed due to administrative reasons and the same will be notified in due course.”

According to the UPSC’s annual calendar, the registration process for both examinations was earlier scheduled to run from January 14 to February 3, 2026. The Civil Services Preliminary Examination was planned to be held on May 24, 2026.

With the delay in the release of the notification, it remains unclear whether the dates for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 and the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 will also be postponed.

Once the notification is released, candidates will be able to apply online through the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in. Applicants will need to register on the portal, fill in the application form, pay the required fee and download the confirmation page for future reference.
