UPSC 2025 Results: IIT Graduates Who Have Cleared Civil Services Exam This Year

Over time, it has been observed that many IIT graduates prefer civil services over tech jobs, and this year was no exception.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Results for 2025 were recently declared, with 958 candidates qualifying in the exam. It has been a consistent observation that many IIT graduates prefer civil services over tech jobs, and this year was no exception. Let’s take a look three IIT graduates who cleared the UPSC this time.

Mrityunjay Gupta From IIT Delhi

Mrityunjay Gupta from Uttar Pradesh secured rank 726 in the UPSC 2025 results. The son of Shailesh Gupta, a teacher in the Basic Education Department, Mrityunjay has excelled academically since childhood. Through sheer determination, he cleared JEE Advanced and completed his B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Delhi. After his engineering, he focused on joining the administrative services, driven by a desire to serve the country and society. He successfully cleared the UPSC exam on his first attempt.

IIT Delhi Graduate Experience

Anubhav, hailing from Arwal district in Bihar, currently works as an Assistant Commissioner in the Income Tax Department. While working, Anubhav prepared for UPSC and secured the 339th rank this year through self-study. He completed his schooling at DAV Public School, Jehanabad, and graduated in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2021. With aspirations of joining the civil services, he also took the BPSC exam as a backup and surprised everyone by becoming the second topper on his first attempt. He cleared UPSC with AIR 309 in 2023 and attempted it again in 2025. Additionally, he secured AIR 17 in UPSC ESE 2023.

IIT Guwahati’s Monica Srivastava

Monica Srivastava from Aurangabad, Bihar, secured the 16th All India Rank in the UPSC 2025 exam. After completing her 10th class, she moved to Kota to prepare for IIT. She graduated in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Guwahati in 2016. Monica then worked as a software engineer in Chennai for about six years, eventually becoming a Senior Software Engineer. Despite a lucrative career, she always wanted to contribute to society and the country. This led her to leave her corporate job and prepare for civil services. She qualified for the UPSC 2023 exam with an all-India rank of 455 and was selected for the Indian Railway Service (IRTS). Continuing her preparation during training, she aimed for a better rank and secured rank 16 in the UPSC 2025 exam.
