A 22-year-old man was brutally beaten to death after visiting his girlfriend in Barwa village, which falls under the Mehanajpur police station area of Azamgarh. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday night.
Authorities have arrested the girl’s mother and one of her brothers, while another suspect remains at large.
According to police cited by HT, the girl and the deceased, identified as 22-year-old Amit Rajbar, had been in a relationship for four to five years. Amit, a resident of Ahirauli village under the Devgaon Kotwali police station area, went to meet his girlfriend in her village on Wednesday night.
Although Amit wished to marry the girl, her family disapproved of their relationship.
During his visit on Wednesday, the girl’s family allegedly caught and beat him to death.
Upon receiving information, Superintendent of Police (City) Madhuban Singh, CO Lalganj, and a forensic team arrived at the scene. The police sent the body for a post-mortem examination and initiated an investigation.
An FIR has been filed based on a complaint from Amit’s uncle, charging the girl’s mother and two brothers with murder under section 302 (murder), as reported by HT.
The girl’s mother, Sudami, and her brother, Avnish, have been arrested, while Manish remains at large.
