PM Modi and Russian President Putin reaffirmed strong India-Russia ties during their bilateral meeting in Tianjin. PM Modi also called for an early end to the Ukraine conflict.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China, where both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the India-Russia partnership.
During their bilateral talks, PM Modi and Putin also discussed pressing global issues, including the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Touching on the Ukraine crisis, PM Modi noted, “We have been discussing Ukraineand hope all sides move forward for achieving peace.“
“We have continuously been discussing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The conflict must be ended as soon as possible, and a path to lasting peace must be found quickly,” PM Modi said.
Describing the interaction, Prime Minister Modi said, “Meeting with Putin is always memorable. In December, we will wait for President Putin to visit India.”
Highlighting the historical depth of ties between both the nations, PM Modi said, “Russia and India have stood together in the most difficult times too. Even in the toughest of circumstances, we have stood shoulder to shoulder. Our cooperation is also important for global peace.“
Also speaking during the meeting, Russian President Putin stressed the trust between the two nations.
“We can say that our relationship is based on principles. There is multifaceted cooperation between us. Today’s meeting is another good opportunity to further strengthen our relations,” Putin said.
“There is a very trustworthy relationship between Russia and India, one that is not based on politics,” he added.
