The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has unleashed a series of coordinated attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan’s border areas in direct retaliation to recent Pakistani airstrikes targeting TTP hideouts inside Afghanistan. The militant group has vowed to avenge the air raids that reportedly injured key TTP leaders, escalating violence and instability in the region.

Security forces and local officials reported multiple deadly assaults beginning shortly after the airstrikes, signalling a dangerous surge in militant activity.

In Dera Ismail Khan, a suicide bombing targeted a police training centre, killing five policemen and wounding several others. Security personnel swiftly responded, killing seven militants involved in the attack. Officials described ongoing “cleaning-up and sanitisation” operations at the site to secure the area and prevent further attacks.

Meanwhile, in the Tirah Valley of Khyber District, a fierce assault by TTP fighters claimed the lives of 11 security personnel. The attack highlights the increasing boldness and operational reach of the group within Pakistan’s tribal regions.

Further unrest was reported in Bajaur district, where a TTP firing raid on a police party killed two policemen. Separately, mortar shelling by militants killed three civilians in the same district, underscoring the rising risk to both security forces and civilians.

Adding to the tension, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for a firing attack on the Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts in the Bosh Das area, although no casualties were reported at this time.

Along the volatile Durand Line border, Afghan Taliban-linked factions and TTP militants have reportedly escalated attacks on Pakistani army posts near Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan, with cross-border firing also reported between Khost in Afghanistan and Miranshah in Pakistan. Afghan authorities, citing security concerns, shut down the Angoor Adda trade point, a key border crossing reportedly under TTP influence.
