According to SBI report, the daily average value of UPI Transactions in August reached Rs 90,446 crore.

More than ₹ 90,000 is being transacted daily from UPI in the country. According to SBI report, the daily average value of UPI Transactions reached Rs 90,446 crore in August.

This figure was Rs 75,743 crore in January 2025. In July, the value of the transaction was Rs 80,919 crore. This increase is a sign of a boom in the country’s cashless economy and digital transactions.

Transactions with UPI 67 million times every day

The volume of UPI transactions is also increasing rapidly. In January 2025, an average of 548 million (54.8 crore) transactions were done in January 2025, which increased to 675 million (67.5 crore) in August.

Use of UPI most in Maharashtra

According to the state-wise UPI data of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the number of UPI users has been number-1. 9.8%stake in Maharashtra’s UPI transaction in July. Karnataka took 5.5% and Uttar Pradesh took 5.3%.

According to NPCI, UPI has more than 1,800 crore transactions every month. In June 2025, UPI did a turnover of Rs 24.03 lakh crore with 1,839 crore transactions, showing 32% growth compared to 1,388 crore transactions in June 2024 last year.

How does UPI work?

For UPI service, you have to prepare a virtual payment address. After this it will have to link to the bank account. After this, there is no need to remember your bank account number, bank name or IFSC code etc. The payment bus processes the payment request according to your mobile number.

If you have its UPI ID (e-mail ID, mobile number or Aadhaar number), then you can easily send money through your smartphone. Net banking, credit or debit card will not be required not only for money but also for utility bill payment, online shopping, shopping etc. You can do all this work with unified payment interface system.
