To test the disaster recovery site, there will be a special mock trading session in the National Stock Exchange (NSE) today (28 September) i.e. on Saturday, a holiday. Trading will also take place in the Futures and Options (F&O) segment along with the capital market from 12 noon to 1 pm.

The disaster recovery site is tested so that the stock exchange business can run smoothly even in any emergency situation. NSE has also scheduled live trading sessions from September 30 to October 3. Trading will take place through the disaster recovery site during regular market timings on both days.

There will be testing to handle failure of the primary site.

By doing this, the preparedness of the primary site to handle major disruption and failure will be examined. There will be an intra-day switch from the Primary Site (PR) to the Disaster Recovery (DR) site in the special live trading session.

The disaster recovery site is used to recover data from the most recent backup. If the primary location and its systems fail due to an unexpected event, it can be switched to the recovery site.

A DR site is essential for all critical institutions like exchanges, so that if any outage affects the functioning of Main Trading Center in Mumbai, the operations can be carried out smoothly without any interruption.
