Even when he’s not playing, Cristiano Ronaldo somehow still ends up in the limelight.
The Portuguese icon is set to miss Portugal’s upcoming friendly against Mexico due to a minor injury, but don’t expect him to be forgotten at the Banorte Stadium.
Reports suggest Mexican fans are planning a tribute during the match, with chants of Ronaldo’s name expected to echo around the stadium in the seventh minute, as a nod to his iconic No. 7 shirt.

The gesture was first floated by a popular Mexican social media account, stating that even if he may not step onto the pitch, his presence will still be felt.

“Not at Risk” for the World Cup
Amid all whispers, Portugal boss Roberto Martinez was quick to calm any fears around Ronaldo’s fitness.
“No, he is not at risk,” Martinez said. “He has a minor injury… we think he can recover in a week or two. It is not a very long period.”
It is merely a small muscle injury that has kept the Al Nassr forward sidelined since late February.
Still, all signs point to a swift return, as Ronaldo himself recently shared training photos with Al-Nassr.
