It has become difficult for BLOs to contact.
Madhya Pradesh: Changing house becomes a problem Members of a family are registered in a separate booth. The reason is not updating the address and frequent shifting of house. The problem is more in cities. Incorrect mapping led to the problem of duplicate or missing voters. Deployed such BLO, whose name is in the list of the same booth. The field team remained halved. Experienced BLO is out. Unable to run new apps.
Gujarat: Trouble due to name being in the list of different states Many BLOs have had to take the help of their sons and acquaintances so that the forms can be distributed on time. There is also a problem in matching due to names being in the voter lists of different states and cities.
Tamil Nadu: Problem due to change of residence There are about one lakh people in Chennai who have changed their place of residence. In such a situation, they are afraid of their names being struck off because they have not updated their addresses. BLO says that collecting filled forms is becoming a more complex problem. SIR what is the motive?
SIR from 1951 to 2004 has been completed, but is pending for the last 21 years. In this long period, many changes are necessary in the voter list. Like migration of people, name being in voter list at two places.
Name remains even after death. Removal of foreign nationals once their names appear in the list. No eligible voter should be left out in the list and no ineligible voter should be included in the list.
Know this also…
What to do if your name is removed from the list? You can appeal on the basis of the draft voter list for one month. You can appeal against the decision of ERO to the DM and against the decision of the DM you can appeal to the CEO.
Where to get complaint or help?
Call helpline 1950. Contact your BLO or District Election Office.
Why was the voter list of Bihar added to the documents? If a person wishes to get his name included in the voter list in any of the 12 states and he submits the excerpt of the post-SIR list of Bihar which contains the names of his parents, he will not be required to submit additional proof of citizenship. Just providing proof of date of birth will be sufficient.
Is Aadhaar recognized as proof of identity? Following a Supreme Court directive in September, the Election Commission had directed Bihar election officials to accept Aadhaar cards as an additional document to establish the identity of voters.
The Commission has clarified that Aadhaar will be accepted only as identity proof and not as citizenship proof.
