Shares of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) fell by about 7% today i.e. on November 17. It came down to ₹363 during the collab. This fall in the company’s shares has come after the results of the quarter July-September 2025.
The company has suffered a net loss of ₹6,368 crore in the second quarter (July-September). The main reason for this was the cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which has affected production.
Quarterly results announced for the first time after demerger
The passenger vehicle business of Tata Motors has now been separated under the name of TMPV. The record date for demerger was 14 October 2025. After this, quarterly results have been declared for the first time.
The company made a net profit of ₹76,248 crore in this quarter. This includes one-time notional profit of ₹82,600 crore on disposal of discontinued operations.
- After removing one-time gain, the company had a consolidated net loss of ₹6,368 crore, compared to a profit of ₹3,056 crore in the same quarter last year.
- Revenue also declined by 13.51% to ₹72,349 crore in the quarter. Whereas in the same quarter last year the revenue was ₹ 83,656 crore.
- EBITDA margin contracted to -1.94%, compared to 11.85% earlier. Operations in India went well, but JLR’s problems spoiled everything.
Analyst Views: Jefferies’ warning, CLSA confident of growth
Jefferies maintained its underperform rating and kept the target price at ₹300. He says that due to cyberattacks, disruption may continue in Q3 also. He pointed out several problems faced by JLR, such as changes in consumption tax in China and tough competition.
CLSA took a positive stance and raised the target to ₹450 with an outperform rating. CLSA believes GST cut and sustained demand on small SUVs could support the domestic PV business, even as JLR’s FY26 outlook remains weak.
