Sensex up 200 points and trading at 84,870: Nifty crosses 26,000; Highest rise in media, metal and oil and gas stocks

Today, on the third trading day of the week i.e. Wednesday, December 31, the Sensex is trading 200 points higher at 84,870. Nifty is up by 70 points, it is above 26,000.

25 out of 30 Sensex stocks are rising. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 40 are trading above. There is a rise in all sectors of NSE. Media, Metal Oil and Gas sectors are at the top.

Mixed business in global market

  • In Asian markets, Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei are closed. Yesterday the Kospi closed 0.15% down at 4,214 and Japan’s Nikkei index closed 0.37% down at 50,339.
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index traded down 1.01% at 25,592 and China’s Shanghai Composite index fell 0.073% at 3,962.
  • On December 30, America’s Dow Jones fell 0.20% and closed at 48,367. At the same time, Nasdaq Composite declined by 0.24% and S&P 500 declined by 0.14%.

Domestic investors bought shares worth ₹6,160 crore

  • On December 29, foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 3,844.02 crore and domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 6,159.81 crore.
  • Till 30th December, FIIs sold shares worth a total of ₹30,752.24 crore. During this period, DIIs controlling the market have bought shares worth ₹ 72,860.27 crore.
  • FIIs sold shares worth a total of ₹17,500.31 crore in the month of November. Whereas, DIIs made purchases worth ₹77,083.78 crore. That is, the market is supported by domestic investors.

There was flat trading in the market yesterday

Today, on the second trading day of the week i.e. 30th December, there was flat trading in the stock market. Sensex fell 20 points and closed at 84,675. There was a slight decline of 3 points in Nifty, it closed at 25,938.

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 17 declined. 28 out of 50 stocks of Nifty have closed down. NSE’s auto, metal and banking sectoral indices remained bullish. At the same time, selling has been seen in media and realty sectors.
