The Sensex is trading at 82,150 levels on the second trading day of the week today i.e. on Tuesday, May 20. The Nifty is about 50 points, it is at 24,980 levels.
20 out of 30 shares of Sensex are rose. Tata Steel, Infosys and Tech Mahindra are above 1%. Power Greede, HDFC Bank and Reliance shares have fallen by 1%.
The Nifty has a rise in 25 out of 50 shares. The IT index of NSE has climbed 1% and metal 0.8%. At the same time, there is a decline of about 1% in auto, media and realty.
Global market boom
- In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei climbs about 200 points (0.5%) to 37,700 and Korea’s Kospi is trading up about 10 points (0.3%) above 2,610.
- Hong Kong’s Hangseng index is about 300 points (1.3%), trading at 23,630. China’s Shanghai Composite is climbing 13 points (0.38%) to 3,380.
- On May 19, the US Dow Jones climbed 137 points (0.32%) to close at 42,792. Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 flats closed 19,215 and 5,963.
Domestic investors purchased ₹ 23,061 crore in May
- On May 19, Foreign Investors (FIIs) sold a net of Rs 525.95 crore in the cash segment and Rs 237.93 crore by domestic investors (DIS).
- So far, foreign investors have purchased Rs 23,256.69 crore in the cash segment and Rs 23,060.62 crore in the cash segment.
- Net purchases of foreign investors in April stood at Rs 2,735.02 crore. Domestic investors also purchased a net of ₹ 28,228.45 crore in a month.

The stock market fell 271 points on Monday
The stock market declined today on the first trading day of the week i.e. Monday, May 19. The Sensex closed at 82,059 below 271 points. The Nifty fell by 74 points, it closed at 24,945.
21 out of 30 shares of Sensex declined. Jomato slipped 3%. Infosys, Tech Mahindra and TCS declined by 2%. Power grid, NTPC and Bajaj Finance closed up 1.3%.
34 out of 50 shares of Nifty closed down. The IT sector of NSE was the biggest decline of 1.37%. There was also a slight decline in media and oil and gas. Whereas, realty increased by 2.23%, public sector banks and 0.62% in financial services.
