Today, on January 6, the first trading day of the week, the Sensex opened with a gain of 58 points at the level of 79,281. Nifty also has a gain of 40 points, it is trading at the level of 24,040.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 22 are rising and 8 are declining. Out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 32 are rising and 19 are declining. In the NSE Sectoral Index, the realty sector is trading the highest with a gain of 0.60%.
Mixed business for Asian markets
- In the Asian market, Japan’s Nikkei fell by 1.25% and Korea’s Kospi rose by 1.54%. At the same time, China’s Shanghai Composite Index is trading with a decline of 0.15%.
- The IPOs of Quadrant Future Tech Limited and Capital Infra Trust InvIT will open tomorrow i.e. on January 7. Investors will be able to bid for it till January 9. The shares will be listed on BSE-NSE on January 14.
- According to NSE data, on January 3, foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹4,227.25 crore. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) also bought shares worth ₹820.60 crore.
- On January 3, America’s Dow Jones closed at 42,732 with a rise of 0.80%. The S&P 500 index rose 1.26% to 5,942 and the Nasdaq rose 1.77% to 19,621.
IPO of Standard Glass Lining Technology will open today
The initial public offer i.e. IPO of Standard Glass Lining Technology Private Limited will open today. Investors will be able to bid for it till January 8. On January 13, the company’s shares will be listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The market closed with a decline on Friday Earlier on Friday i.e. January 3, the Sensex had fallen by 720 points and closed at the level of 79,223. Nifty also fell by 183 points, it closed at the level of 24,004. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 20 were in decline and 10 were up. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 32 were in decline and 18 were in rise.
In the NSE Sectoral Index, the IT sector closed with the biggest decline of 1.41%. At the same time, Banking, Pharma, Healthcare and Financial Services closed with a decline of more than 1%. Whereas, Nifty Oil & Gas was up by 1.26% and Media sector was up by 1.70%.
