A decline is being seen in the stock market today (17 October), the last trading day of the week. Sensex is trading at the level of 83,350, falling by about 150 points. There is also a decline of 50 points in Nifty, it is trading at 25,550.

Mixed business in global market

  • In Asian markets, Korea’s Kospi is trading 0.029% higher at 3,749.44 and Japan’s Nikkei is trading 0.93% lower at 47,827.31.
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index traded down 1.51% at 25,496.32 and China’s Shanghai Composite fell 0.99% at 3,877.42.
  • On October 15, America’s Dow Jones fell 0.65% to close at 45,952.24. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.47% and the S&P 500 was down 0.63%.

On October 16, FII bought shares worth Rs 997 crore.

  • On October 16, foreign investors (FIIs) made net purchases of Rs 997.29 crore in the cash segment and domestic investors (DIIs) made net purchases of Rs 4,076.20 crore.
  • Foreign investors have so far sold shares worth ₹2,890.32 crore in the month of October. Whereas domestic investors have made net purchases of Rs 26,517.84 crore during this period.
  • Foreign investors have sold shares worth ₹35,301.36 crore in the month of September. Whereas domestic investors had made net purchases of ₹ 65,343.59 crore during this period.

Yesterday the Sensex closed with a rise of 862 points.

On Thursday, October 16, the Sensex closed at 83,468, up 862 points (1.04%). Nifty also rose by 262 points (1.03%), it closed at 25,585.

28 out of 30 Sensex stocks closed higher. 14 stocks including Kotak Mahindra Bank and Titan rose by more than 1%. Shares of Infosys and Zomato closed falling.

45 out of 50 Nifty stocks closed higher. Sectoral indices of NSE closed with gains of FMCG 2.02%, Realty 1.90%, Consumer Durables 1.53%, Auto 1.27% and Private Bank 1.48%.
