The world No. 3 Indian duo ensured India a medal at the prestigious tournament after defeating second seeds Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia in the quarterfinals on Friday.
They produced a commanding performance to beat the reigning Olympic bronze medallists 21-15, 21-19, sealing their place in the semifinals and guaranteeing themselves at least a bronze.
The victory was especially sweet for the Indians, who had faced heartbreak against the same Malaysian pair just over a year ago at the Paris 2024 Olympics, ending Satwik–Chirag’s hopes of securing India’s first Olympic medal in men’s doubles.
This time, however, the Indians kept their composure, mixing sharp smashes with aggressive net play to ensure there were no slip-ups.
