Saina Nehwal reveals Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s son Akaay shows early interest in cricket, sharing insights into their family life.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli first met in 2013 while shooting for a television commercial. The two fell in love with each other but kept their relationship under wraps. In 2017, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy.
London Olympics bronze medallist shuttler Saina Nehwal has revealed that Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s son Akaay has shown an early inkling for cricket. The couple keeps details about their children, Vamika and Akaay, private, requesting media and fans to respect their space.
But in a recent interaction, Saina shared a glimpse that grabbed attention.
In an interview with Filmygyanthe star Indian shuttler explained that athletes often don’t get to meet each other due to the constant travel required for tournaments. When they do, conversations frequently shift from sports to family life.
Saina shared a charming moment from a chat with Kohlisaying, “He mentioned that maybe his boy likes to play.”
Saina added that during these meet-ups, they discuss their careers before turning to family. She revealed that Kohli mentioned that his son, Akaay, might already have a fondness for cricket.
Kohli and Anushka welcomed their second child, Akaay, on February 15 last year, announcing the news on Instagram. The couple has been protective of their children’s privacy, keeping their faces away from the public eye.
There have been multiple occasions when Kohli’s daughter, Vamika, was spotted by the media. Reports suggest that he no longer resides in India, with the family, Kohli, Anushka and their children, relocating to London.
However, these reports have not been confirmed.
Having last appeared in a three-match ODI series against Australia on October 25, Kohli has again vanished from the public eye. But an Instagram story of the star cricketer from Thursday suggests that he was on vacation in Austria.
In the twilight of his international career, Kohli plays just the ODI format, making it challenging to sustain form after long breaks.
Kohli, who featured in the ODI series in Australia, will be seen in the upcoming series against South Africa beginning Sunday, November 30 in Ranchi.
