In a video being widely shared on social media, a man can be seen intentionally touching a girl in an autorickshaw. The incident drew a lot flak on social media and women’s safety concerns are yet again in attention. As per the reports, the video was shared by a student of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and in the social media, she alleged that the man in the video was touching her again and again.

As the accused realised that he is being recorded, he fled mid-journey. The student, Anaya, shared the video on social media and wrote: “Today, on my way to college, a boy in an auto tried to touch me deliberately. The moment I started recording, he got off and ran. This is the reality we face. Safety for girls still feels like a myth.”

The video went viral on social media platforms like X and Instragram and netizens called out lack of women safety and awareness.

Several users tagged UP Police and Varanasi police on X and urged them to take action against the perpetrator.

“Point out him, wherever and just punish such bad souls. Young girls specially those who are very young, can’t protest are the soft target always,” a comment on the video posted on X reads.

“This is unacceptable & sadly, not rare. No one should have to fear for their safety on the way to college or anywhere else. The fact that he ran when confronted shows he knew exactly what he was doing,” another comment reads.

A user commented on the video and wrote, “We need stricter verification of auto-drivers, better patrolling near campus areas, and swift identification of such offenders. Safety in Kashi cannot be a myth.”
