Amid the ongoing conflict, Iran has issued a message to the people of Iraq, expressing solidarity and calling for closer alignment. In an official statement, IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Ebrahim Zolfaghari said the support of Iraqis had been felt throughout the conflict, adding that their “hearts, tears, and firm stances” stood alongside the Iranian people.
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. To the noble Muslim Arab people of Iraq—friends and brothers,” he said, adding that the Iranian people “were not alone” and that Iraqi support had remained strong.
He went on to accuse the US and Israel, saying they “have committed a brutal aggression against the national and Islamic sovereignty of our country, Iran,” and described attacks as “cowardly and savagely bombing women, children, and civilians, targeting schools, students, medical centers, and public service institutions.”
Making the key announcement, the spokesperson said: “And we announce here: fraternal Iraq is exempt from any restrictions we have imposed in the Strait of Hormuz — those restrictions apply only to enemy states. We hold deep respect for Iraq’s national sovereignty.”

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump delivered a strong warning, saying Israel had just 48 hours to reach an agreement or face severe consequences.
His remarks came after a strike near an Iran nuclear facility led to evacuations, while Tehran announced new attacks across the region. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also claimed they targeted a commercial vessel in Bahrain that was allegedly linked to Israel.
The conflict, which began over a month ago following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, has since intensified, spreading across the Middle East. The situation has also shaken global markets, especially after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz—a key route for global oil and gas supplies.
Referring to his earlier ultimatum, Trump wrote on Truth Social:
“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT,”
“Time is running out — 48 hours before all Hell will reign (sic) down on them.”
