Music composer Palaash Muchhal has been discharged from the hospital, his team confirmed, a day after he was admitted due to exertion and stress following the postponement of his wedding with cricketer Smriti Mandhana. He was first hospitalised in Sangli and later shifted to SRV Hospital in Goregaon, Mumbai, where doctors deemed him fit enough to go home.
Palaash’s hospitalisation came shortly after he returned from Sangli, where the wedding had been halted due to unexpected medical emergencies in both families. The ceremony was postponed after Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was admitted to hospital on the wedding day following a reported heart attack. On the same day, Palaash also fell ill with acidity and a viral infection, leading to his own hospital admission.
According to NDTV and Hindustan Times reports, Palaash chose to postpone the wedding after learning about Smriti’s father’s condition. His mother, Amita Muchchal, shared how deeply the news affected him. She said, “Palaash has a lot of attachment to his uncle… both of them are closer than Smriti. When he got sick, Palaash decided before Smriti that he should not go around again…until he became uncle.“
Amita further revealed that Palaash broke down upon hearing about Shrinivas Mandhana’s condition. Detailing the emotional moment, she said, “The haldi was done, so we didn’t let him go outside. My health got worse bit by bit. Had to be kept in hospital for four hours. IV drip chadhi. ECG was done and other tests were done. Everything seems normal but there is a lot of stress.“
Reports state that despite all medical tests returning normal, the emotional strain took a toll on the musician, prompting doctors to keep him under observation before discharging him.
So far, both Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana have not released an official statement regarding the postponed wedding. The families are currently prioritising recovery and well-being as they navigate this difficult time.
