Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi announces recruitment of over 44,000 primary school teachers in three years.
The Odisha government will recruit more than 44,000 teachers for primary schools across the state over the next three years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Thursday.
Out of the total, nearly 40,000 will be newly created posts, the chief minister said, adding that the move is part of the state government’s broader push to strengthen the quality of primary education.
Majhi further stated that the government has also decided to regularise the services of teachers currently working in primary schools on an ad hoc basis under different schemes.
“… The chief minister has directed to fill up 44,433 posts in the next three years… About 15,000 primary teacher posts will be filled every year,” a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
In addition to boosting teacher recruitment, Majhi directed officials to extend the state’s free textbook scheme to students of Classes 9 and 10. At present, free textbooks are provided only to children from Classes 1 to 8.
The chief minister has also instructed authorities to appoint Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) in hostels to provide better health support to students staying there, the release added.
